Directory

How do I find a business?

Searching the directory is easy. Either on our homepage or the directory page, where you see the map, towards the bottom of the map is a search panel, called ‘Search Listings’. Simply moving your mouse near the search button will raise the panel with search options for you. On a mobile or tablet, the same page has a ‘Search’ button on the top left of the screen which brings in the search panel.

Can I search by company name?

Of course! This is done on the search panel (near bottom of map), the sliding panel will raise and you can type the company name into the first text box there, labelled ‘Keyword’.

How can I filter the results?


Searching the directory is easy. Either on our homepage or the directory page, where you see the map, towards the bottom of the map is a search panel called ‘Search Listings’. From here, you can filter the results by choosing factors you want to filter by, e.g. disabled access, by category, distance from public transport, etc.

Is there any fee to register on this site?

No, registration for all users is free and always will be.

Will this site work on my phone?

YES, and it looks great – especially if you have a retina or HD screen. Our site looks high quality on all devices.

How to use the map?


The map is actually a Google map, so if you are used to using Google Maps, our map should be very familiar. In fact, even a tad easier as we have stripped it down to simplify it. You can zoom in and out of the map via the controls on the top left of the map itself.

Why do I get prompted to share my location?


We use geolocation to get your location based on your internet connection and then use this to find businesses and locations close to you. It is only used to help you sort results based on distance.

What is geolocation?


Geolocation is a technology where websites and applications can get a good idea of where you are right now in order to pintpoint your location on a map. Inaccuracies can sometimes occur if your internet connection or IP provider use servers in different locations.

What are the circles with numbers on the map?


These are clusters and help clean the map up in areas where there are many listings. Instead of having lots of pins in a short space, we cluster them up to keep one object so if users want to see the listings in that area, they can click on it which zooms the map in and shows the pins nice and clearly.

Can I get directions to a listing location?


If you have enabled geolocation by accepting the prompt when you first land on the directory pages, then we can attempt to pinpoint your location and then provide directions to any listing. Directions are only available for featured listings and are accessible when you hover over the pin image to get the overlay with information. ‘Get Directions’ is at the bottom of this hover panel.

How do I sort the directory results?


If you are in the directory or a category page, just below the map is a bar with a few helpful tools. Here, you will see ‘Sort By’ which gives you a few options to sort the results.

Listings

How do I submit a listing?


Submitting your business or location is simple. Simply visit the Submit page. Register if you are new or log in to your account, and once done, you can see a large button on the top right of the screen to submit a new directory listing.

What are the terms?

How to add more images to my listing?


When creating a new listing or editing an existing listing, in the images section you can see a blue section at the bottom. Clicking this adds the Extra Images Add-On into the basket at the top of the page. Once you’ve checked out, you will then be able to upload your additional images. The fee is a one-off payment.

How to add a contact form to my listing?


When creating a new listing or editing an existing listing, in the images section you can see text which if you click, adds the Contact Form Add-On into the basket at the top of the page. Once you’ve checked out, you will then be able to upload your additional images. The fee is a one-off payment.

How do I add my social media links to my listing?


Upgrade your listing to a featured listing and you will be able to add interactive social media boxes for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram and more.

What's a featured listing?


Featured listings seriously enhance your directory listing on This Is Bramhall. Becoming featured enables a better pin and hover effect on the map, priority placement over free listings, no ads on your listing page, lots of enhanced contact methods, adds a link back to your website, and more. How do I delete my listing?


When logged in, visit My Account. Underneath the page views chart, you will see a table with listings. To the right of each listing, you will see 2 buttons, Edit and Delete. Delete will remove the listings permanently.

Can I link to my directory listing from my own website?


Of course! Visit our Useful Tools page for a banner generator. Paste in the URL of your directory listing, choose which badge you prefer and generate it. You will then get HTML code which you can copy and paste into any webpage for an active link back to your listing.

How to I cancel the featured listing?


This is actually done through PayPal, instead of on this website. When you choose to feature your listing as recurring, it sets up a subscription in PayPal. It’s very easy to stop and cancel this. There are step-by-step instructions with pictures here.

Advertising

How do I advertise?

Can I submit my own banner images?


Yes, as long as they are the correct size and accepted format (.gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .swf).

What are featured listings?

What are banner adverts?


Banner adverts are ads with specific sizes that you can place around our website which link to any URL, e.g. your website/landing page.

What are advertorials?


Advertorials are paid-for advertising which take the form of an article or news post about your business/event/promotional offer. We integrate the advertorials into our regular local news stories on the homepage and in our News section.

How do I pay for advertising?


Payments for all our advertising are securely made via PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to do this and you can pay via many methods.

What are the advertising terms?


As long as you do not post inappropriate banner adverts (e.g. pornographic material) or content which can easily offend, insult or damage other people or parties, then all should be okay. More detailed terms on using our website can be found on our Terms page.

Do the banner links use nofollow?


No! All our adverts will use follow links so you can be sure they are useful for your own SEO purposes.

What if the banner slot has already been filled?


Our system will queue adverts for up to 3 months. Even if someone has currently taken the slot you want, you can still buy the advert to reserve it and your advert will automatically become active when the current active one expires. We will notify you by email as soon as your banner advert goes live.

Account

How do I register?


You can register on our Submit Listing page, either through your Facebook account or through our own registration system.

How do I login?


You can login on our Submit Listing page, either with your This Is Bramhall username and password or via your Facebook account.

How do I go to my account / my listings?


You can visit the account dashboard and listings on the My Account page, after you have logged in. Once you have logged in, your My Account page will be available in the menu until you log out.

How do I change my password?


You can visit our account dashboard on the My Account page, after you have logged in. At the bottom of this page, you can edit your profile which includes your password.

Can I change my username?


Usernames cannot be changed once they have been registered. If you have a problem, please email

How long does my account last?


There is no set time limit on accounts but we may in the future have a clean up on long-term accounts with no activity.

How do I delete my account?


While we encourage our users to keep their account intact in case of future needs, we can still delete your account permanently. Please note that upon deletion, no data will be recoverable. You can request deletion by emailing
